Choosing the Right Kind of Swimming Pool for Arizona

So you have finally decided to take the plunge and really start to enjoy the sunny weather and warm climate of Arizona by purchasing a pool.  There are all kinds of advantages to owning a swimming pool.

First, you can enjoy the water whenever you want at your convenience. Next, it is hot in Scottsdale and the greather Phoenix area. Taking a dip is a great way to cool off. Finally, residential pools make excellent places to entertain your family and friends. 

Don't write the invitations out yet; there are many decisions that go into choosing and installing a pool.  It makes sense to have a clear idea of what you want before you head to the dealership showroom.

One of the first decisions you need to make about your choice is if you want an above ground or in ground model. 

Many people in the rest of the country choose to go with an above ground because they are less expensive; installation isn't as invasive, and above ground pools can even be moved if you change residences.  However you do have to contend with local codes, the potential hazard of a ladder, and above ground pools are more prone to liner tears. 

With an in ground pool, you are looking at the added expense of digging the pool out.  On the up side, in ground pools are often more attractive, don't have the ladder hazard, and are easier to maintain.

In the greater Phoenix area either may be a good option; however in the Scottsdale area you will generally find very few above ground pools.

The next thing to consider about your Scottsdale swimming pool is its size and shape.  Both in ground and above ground pools are now available in all kinds of sizes and creative shapes. 

If you are planning to install the pool in a strangely shaped spot, a kidney shaped pool may be perfect.  As far as determining size, you will have to pull out your tape measure and figure out how much land you can stand to lose and how large the pool needs to be to fulfill your needs. 

Before you allow the installation process to begin, it's very important to check with your local utility companies and be sure there aren't any power lines or sewage lines under the ground where you want the pool to go.

A swimming pool can be a great addition to your home and social life.  It's vital to think about the style and type of pool you want carefully before jumping in with both feet, pardon the pun. 

Once you have realistically set your pool goals, it's time to enjoy your new purchase.
