Besides the pool itself, one of the most important features you will need on your pool is the filter. Each make and model of pool usually has the option of choosing from at least a few of the models of filters. It's up to you and the salesperson to determine which of the Scottsdale pool filters will best suit your needs.
Regardless of what you may hear when choosing the filter of your choice, each type is fully able to adequately filter your pool's water. It mostly comes down to which of the three filters you feel the most comfortable using.
The first Scottsdale pool filters option is the sand filter. This one works much like water purification devices in your home.
The water is filtered through a compartment filled with sand. As the water passes through the device, the clean water returns to the pool through the bottom of the filter and the dirty water remains at the top.
When the filter becomes full and clogged, you will have to back flush the system. Replacing the sand when it is saturated with debris is inexpensive. However from a hydraulics point of view, a sand filter is the least effective way to filter your pool.
The next type of filter to discuss is the cartridge filter system.
This Scottsdale pool filters option is the most commonly used of the three and the easiest to understand. The pool water passes through the filter and debris is caught in the filter material. Due to the effectiveness of cartridge filters, less pressure is put on the pump and you don't have to change the cartridge elements very often.
Depending on the model of filter system, you may need to opt for less expense replacements and change them more often or your preferred filter may require expensive replacements that you only have to change about once every 5 years. It's all up to what you prefer.
The last Scottsdale pool filters option is the diatomaceous earth filter.
Just to make things easier, it is commonly referred to as a DE filter. Small, ground up fossilized skeletons of diatoms is used much like the sand in the sand filter. These tiny particles catch debris in the filter and have to be back flushed like the sand filters. This type of system does put additional strain on the pump and may lead to lessened water flow.
As previously noted, all of these filter systems will work effectively. You simply have to decide how much work you want to put into maintaining your filter system and pool.
