The 5-Step Tutorial on Pool Equipment - Page 2

Step 3: Pumps & Motors - The reason your water flows through your pipes is because of your pump and motor. The motors are general electric. Pumps and motors are standard pool equipment with every swimming pool.

They create horsepower that the pump uses to suck water from your swimming pool up to the filter. Then they use that same horsepower to push water from the pool filter back through other pipes into your pool.

The final task of your pump and motor is to keep water circulating around your pool. Stagnant water means algae and bacteria can grow in the pool. Circulating water means the water will not have as much growth, plus it means each droplet of water will move and should eventually make it's way through your pool filter.

Step 4: Automatic Pool Cleaners - Some swimming pools have something called an automatic pool cleaner. The are basically vacuums that swim around your pool collecting water and debris and pushing it to your filter to be cleaned.

If you have proper circulation in your pool an automatic pool cleaner may not be necessary since all of your water is already moving through the filter in a timely fashion. Although not recommended, if any of your pipes are clogged or are not working properly you may have the option of using an automatic pool cleaner instead of a costly repair.

Step 5: Poles/Brushes/Vacuums - These are the standard pool equipment that are needed for regular pool maintenance. Your pole has a place for various attachments on the end. It's basic use is to keep you dry so you can reach into the pool for cleaning.

Brushes fit on the end of your pole so you can scrub the pool walls and pool floors. Vacuums fit on the end of the pole as well. They suck debris off the walls and floors and push it with the water into the filter to be cleaned.

That's the summary of pool equipment. I hope it helped. Of course there is a lot more information about each of these topics. So just keep clicking "Next Article" below until you find the information you seek...
