Do you know how to keep your chemicals safe and secure?
The whole idea behind owning a pool is to give you and your family way to enjoy the outdoors and spend time together. It doesn't hurt that it is also a great place to center around during a kicking summer party. But like any other privilege, it also comes with responsibility.
You have to ensure that it is safe. With the proper precautions there is little chance of illness or infection from the water. Plus, with proper care you can safely store your chemicals away from the action.
It's easy to get caught up in the fun and excitement. You may have meant to put something away earlier, but if it ends up left out it will pose a threat. Knowing something about proper storage is just one part of being responsible with your pool.
Just like with household cleaning products, taking care and being safe is pretty much good common sense. There are not many hidden tricks or secrets to it.
Let's talk about how to store them properly first. Obviously you don't want potentially dangerous products left where children or pets can get to them. Who knows what goes through Fido or Jr.'s head, but it usually isn't safe.
You will also want to be sure they are stored in a well ventilated space. While you may be tempted to reuse containers or put something else in them when empty, don't. As we said, it's a matter of using sound common sense.
Now that you have the little ones and furry friends safe, consider your own safety when using your swimming pool chemicals.
The containers will provide information on how to use them and warnings on any possible threats. Be sure to read through all of that before handling them.
A lot of this stuff is flammable; it may not be a good time to multi task and take your smoke break at the same time. It’s also very important to always add the chemicals to the water and not the water to the chemicals. It can create a toxic gas that you, your family, and your neighbors really don't want.
Let's recap...
- Follow the instructions and pay attention to the warnings on the Scottsdale pool chemicals labels.
- Store the products in a safe, well aired environment.
- Don't mix and match containers.
- Watch how you handle the chemicals.
Having a pool is supposed to be fun and it is when you take the necessary safety precautions.
