Finding and hiring someone is a lot like hiring any other major firm.  You wouldn't just pick an attorney's name out of the phone book and go with it.  You also wouldn't simply choose a doctor and allow them to perform procedures on you the next day.

If they have lived in the Valley length of time, they have their own experiences with local companies or have talked to other people who have.  Businesses rely on word of mouth referrals to make money.  If someone else refers them to you, the chances are good they are a good company to consider for your needs.

The final step to take before hiring someone is to contact the Better Business Bureau or other local business reporting service.  You want to be sure there aren't a huge number of complaints filed against the company of your choice and if there are complaints, how quickly and satisfactorily they handled the complaints. 

You will be paying them to do a job and there is nothing wrong with assuring yourself they have a reputation for doing a good one.
