Preventing Cloudy Pool Water

After you have spent all kinds of time and money on buying the perfect pool for your needs, the last thing you want is to find you have cloudy pool water

It doesn't take long to happen.  One minute the swimming pool looks great, the next you are left wondering who dumped dirt and debris in it for fun.  Your best defense against cloudy pool water is a good prevention and maintenance plan.

Many people complain that taking care of a pool takes too much time.  It doesn’t have to be that hard.  You can either schedule yourself time to care for the pool, or hire a reputable company to do it for you.  Either way, there are certain steps that have to happen to ensure your cloudy pool water goes away so the pool water always looks great.

Let's get to the "how" part...

Okay, step number one consists of making sure you brush and clean all of the pool's surfaces once a week.  This will help to eliminate any lurking algae and prevent the appearance of cloudy pool water.  Be sure to clean the ladder, the steps, and the rails.  It may take some time to complete, but you will be more than happy with the results.

Moving on to step number two, we have the importance of sunlight.  Many pool owners don't realize how important natural sunlight is in the care of their pools.  We are told to protect our skin and possessions from the damaging rays of the sun, but in the case of a pool, it is actually beneficial.  The rays of the sun and UV light are natural oxidizers and can help cut down on the cloudy pool water problem.

Even Mother Nature needs help every once in awhile.  That's where you come in with regular use of pool maintenance chemicals like adding oxidizing chemicals into the skimmer.  While you are at it, make sure you clean the filtration lines to avoid any bio film that may be hiding out there wreaking havoc on your pool.

There are other small steps you should take to make sure your pool doesn’t suffer from cloudy pool water.  Use weekly deep cleaning products and algae reducers in your water.  Be sure you keep your pool toys and floats clean.  Debris or algae clinging to a float can reinfect the water of the pool in a hurry.

Common sense and a few cleaning habits will go a long way in keeping your pool's water blue and crystal clear.
